How the Zurich Cleaning Score Works →Section 5
The 15 companies included in this comparison were selected from a broader pool of cleaning providers serving Zurich. Candidates were identified across major search platforms, Swiss business directories, local service marketplaces and existing Zurich cleaning comparisons.
Selection and scoring were handled as separate stages. Inclusion in the shortlist did not depend on a company's final Zurich Cleaning Score.
Selection Sources
Eligibility Criteria
Selection and scoring were treated as separate stages. The shortlist was compiled from publicly visible cleaning providers serving Zurich before the full scoring process was applied. All 15 included companies were subsequently assessed using the same published eligibility and scoring framework.
Scoring Methodology
The Zurich Cleaning Score™ is a standardized 100-point editorial framework used to compare 15 cleaning companies in Zurich across 40 evaluation criteria grouped into 10 weighted scoring categories.
Each company is assessed using the same category structure. Higher-weight categories reflect factors considered more important when choosing a cleaning company in Zurich — particularly cleaning quality, customer satisfaction, reliability and professional trust.
| Scoring Category | Weight | Criteria |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning Quality & Quality Control | 22% | 6 criteria |
| Customer Satisfaction & Reviews | 18% | 5 criteria |
| Reliability & Service Continuity | 15% | 5 criteria |
| Trust, Insurance & Professional Standards | 12% | 4 criteria |
| Customer Care & Communication | 10% | 4 criteria |
| Pricing Transparency & Value | 8% | 4 criteria |
| Services & Flexibility | 6% | 4 criteria |
| Booking Convenience | 4% | 3 criteria |
| Zurich & International Client Fit | 3% | 3 criteria |
| Sustainability & Professional Practices | 2% | 2 criteria |
| Total | 100% | 40 criteria |
Every company in the Zurich cleaning comparison is scored through the same four-step process. The framework keeps the calculation transparent so reviewers and readers can follow how a published score was reached.
Each company receives a standardized score for each applicable evaluation criterion using available evidence and published company information.
Individual criterion results are combined into a category score from 0 to 10.
Each category score is multiplied by its published weighting. Higher-priority categories therefore contribute more to the final result.
Weighted category results are combined into a 100-point total and displayed publicly on a 10-point scale.
Cleaning Quality & Quality Control carries the highest individual weighting at 22%, followed by Customer Satisfaction & Reviews at 18% and Reliability & Service Continuity at 15%. Together, these three categories account for 55% of the total Zurich Cleaning Score.
The remaining 45% measures trust, communication, pricing, flexibility, booking experience, Zurich market fit and professional practices.
Quality control is assessed through factors such as service supervision, documented quality standards, complaint handling, accountability, consistency between visits and the mechanisms used to correct cleaning issues when something goes wrong.
These signals are evaluated uniformly across every cleaning company in the comparison so that quality control contributes to the overall Zurich Cleaning Score in a consistent and comparable way.
The Customer Satisfaction & Reviews category represents 18% of the overall Zurich Cleaning Score. Within that category, review evidence is evaluated using five weighted components shown below.
Raw star ratings are not compared in isolation. Review volume, freshness, rating consistency and the independence of the review source are also considered so that a small number of perfect reviews does not automatically outrank a larger and more established customer-feedback record.
The published average rating is adjusted toward the market average when the number of reviews is small. As review volume grows, the company's own rating carries progressively more weight.
Review count measures the depth of the public customer-feedback record. A logarithmic scale is used so that very large companies do not receive an excessive advantage simply because of size.
Recent customer feedback receives more weight than an old review history with little current activity. Recent review activity is assessed using the latest publicly visible reviews.
The analysis considers whether customer feedback is consistently positive or includes a meaningful concentration of low ratings. A stable rating distribution is treated differently from the same average created by highly polarized reviews.
Public third-party review platforms are given greater evidentiary value than testimonials controlled directly by the company. Company-owned testimonials may provide context but are not treated as equivalent to independent public review sources.
Bayesian adjustment reduces the distortion created by very small review samples. It blends a company's own published rating with the comparison-group average, weighting the company more heavily as its review volume grows.
Where
When review volume is low, the adjusted rating remains closer to the comparison-group average. As the number of reviews increases, the company's own rating increasingly determines the adjusted result.
Despite the higher raw star rating, Company A receives a lower adjusted rating because its result is based on a much smaller review sample.
Review volume is scored on a logarithmic rather than linear scale. This rewards a substantial review history while preventing very large companies from dominating the category purely because of scale.
Review Volume Score = 10 × log(1 + Company Review Count) / log(1 + Highest Review Count in Comparison)
100 reviews versus 1,000 reviews does not create a tenfold scoring advantage under this normalization.
Recent review activity is assessed using the latest publicly visible customer reviews. The methodology considers how recently customers have posted feedback and whether review activity remains ongoing.
Freshness is assessed consistently using publicly visible review activity available at the time of the review.
The strongest review profile is therefore not simply the company with the highest star rating. It is the company with a high rating supported by sufficient volume, recent activity and a consistent public feedback record.

Different cleaning providers suit different customer needs. These category picks highlight the strongest fit for several common Zurich cleaning use cases based on the comparison data presented on this page.
A strong option for recurring home cleaning, with published hourly pricing, a 2-hour minimum booking and a structured recurring-service model.
A strong fit for customers prioritizing move-out and handover cleaning, with this service area forming a major part of its positioning in the Zurich market.
A practical choice for international and English-speaking customers who prefer a large booking platform, standardized service flow and straightforward online scheduling.
Best suited to customers who prefer direct communication and a locally focused service model rather than dealing primarily through a large intermediary platform.
One of the strongest digital-first options in the comparison, with an established online booking model designed around easy scheduling and recurring cleaning plans.
Among providers with directly comparable published regular-cleaning prices in this comparison, Batmaid shows one of the lowest visible hourly starting rates.
Use-case selections reflect the specific strengths and publicly available service information reviewed on this page. A company may rank highly overall without being the strongest fit for every individual use case.
Choosing a cleaning company involves more than comparing hourly prices. Reliability, insurance, staffing, cancellation terms, quality control and the way cleaners are assigned can all affect the actual customer experience.
Check whether the cleaning provider has liability insurance and what types of accidental damage are covered. Insurance is especially relevant when cleaners work around furniture, appliances, glass surfaces and valuable household items.
For recurring cleaning, ask whether the same cleaner can normally return for future visits. A consistent cleaner becomes familiar with the property, customer preferences and recurring tasks, which can improve continuity over time.
Cleaning companies may use direct employees, independent cleaners or platform-based contractors. The model can affect responsibility for payroll, insurance, replacement staff, supervision and customer support.
Look at how cleaners are selected and prepared before serving customers. Relevant factors may include identity checks, prior cleaning experience, reference checks, onboarding, cleaning standards and ongoing supervision.
A recurring service should have a clear process for situations where the assigned cleaner is unavailable. Ask whether another cleaner can be provided and how much notice customers normally receive.
Cancellation policies vary considerably. Check how far in advance a booking can be changed without charge, whether late cancellations incur fees and whether recurring appointments can be paused or rescheduled.
Some companies bring their own cleaning products and equipment, while others expect the customer to provide them. Confirm what is included before comparing prices because supply arrangements can affect the real cost and convenience of the service.
Compare more than the headline hourly rate. Check minimum booking duration, recurring-service discounts, travel or service-area charges, cleaning-material costs and whether special tasks are billed separately.
A useful quality policy should explain what happens if a customer is dissatisfied. Look for a defined complaint process, correction or re-cleaning procedure and a clear time window for reporting problems.
Review both the average rating and the underlying review history. Consider the number of reviews, how recent they are, whether feedback appears across independent platforms and whether repeated positive or negative patterns appear over time.
No single factor determines the best cleaning company for every household. The strongest choice depends on the customer's priorities, such as price, continuity, flexibility, service scope or level of personal support.
